Measuring carbon footprint for aggregates is getting more and more crucial in our field. But it’s difficult to measure and can be quite a conundrum.
Fortunately, the very first CO₂ Calculator for Aggregates is on and ready to help you. In just a few clicks, you can easily get the results you need.
It represents a simple yet effective tool to assist you when building with aggregates.
ORIS CO₂ Calculator: developed with AND for aggregates experts
It all started at the initiative of MIRO (Mineral Raw Materials Association) which anticipated that the CO₂ footprint of construction products would soon have to be included in the declaration of performance.
They got ORIS in touch with aggregates experts. Our goal was for them to test our CO₂ Calculator to make sure it meets their needs.
After all, they’re the ones who are going to use it on a daily basis. That’s why their input and feedback were very precious for us.
Thanks to CIRAIG, a world-leading life cycle assessment research institute, and their collaboration with our team at ORIS, particularly our LCA Expert Dr. Koji Negishi, and our Product Manager and LCA Expert Léa Fischer, we were able to develop a calculator that provides reliable data.
The methodology of this carbon calculator was designed following CIRAIG’s recommendations to ensure the accuracy of the results.

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a science that enables us to determine the environmental footprint of a product or a service.
Be compliant with the regulation
Our CO₂ Calculator enables you to comply with the European Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
Keep in mind this regulation will come into effect in fall 2024. And ultimately become mandatory.
That’s why the ORIS CO₂ Calculator for Aggregates is essential for linear infrastructure.
You have in your hands a tool that provides accurate scientific data.
It makes life cycle assessment accessible to you by measuring the carbon footprint for aggregates. No need to be a LCA expert like Léa Fischer to use it.
Plus, it’s automated, robust and cost-effective for you.
ORIS CO₂ Calculator for Aggregates turns 1 today
It’s a tremendous achievement and a revolutionary tool for the German industry since it’s particularly present in this country. So far we’ve calculated 10 million tons of aggregates.
And it’s just the beginning…
Indeed, we’ve received the first calculations from other European countries like Hungary and Poland.
We also calculated carbon emissions for a recycling plant and are currently integrating the lessons learned from it into the product.
Not bad for a one-year-old tool.
Our CO₂ Calculator for Aggregates will soon be available in France and the United Kingdom and deployed throughout these countries for infrastructure players to get accurate calculations and make informed decisions.
By using such a digital tool, you can efficiently put aggregates to good use. You choose where and how you implement them for a low environmental impact.
