ORIS, the first digital material platform for sustainable road construction, reaches a new milestone in its development by becoming a standalone commercial entity. ORIS will have a strictly dedicated team and its activities will be ring-fenced from the rest of Holcim to ensure the neutrality of its services.
Incubated by the Holcim Research Center, ORIS unlocks the power of materials in the construction value chain and enables to build more with less by offering road decision-makers a data-driven approach from road design to material sourcing. With 25% of materials used in road construction, material digitalization and optimization is an essential lever for responsible material consumption by designing low-carbon, cost-efficient and long-lasting road infrastructure.
ORIS will be managed independently, with a balanced Supervisory Board presided by Magali Anderson, Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer of Holcim, as President and Susanna Zammataro, General Director of the International Road Federation, will be the first independent board member. ORIS will continue to be led by Nicolas Miravalls and Renaud de Montaignac, acting respectively as Chief Executive Officer and as Chief Operating Officer.
ORIS started its development in Europe with the launch of a ready-to-use platform accessible in Germany since this year and plans underway in France and in the UK for 2022. ORIS plans on expanding to other regions in the coming months, including in North America. ORIS is available anywhere in the world as a consultancy service.
ORIS has received the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” label, recognizing world-leading technologies that protect the environment in a profitable way and was among the Top 10 finalists of the 2021 InfraChallenge on resilient infrastructure organized by the Global Infrastructure Hub and the G20.
